Counterpoint.

Holly, what is wrong with this label? Some poor art student SLAVED over it, and all you do is crap on his/her work. Sure, the color pallet reminds me a wee bit of a 3rd grade classroom. But I like it.

And here is why:

1) The design is simple and straightforward. It kinda looks like something I could pull together with a pack of crayola markers and a basic knowledge of Microsoft publisher. Its not pretending to be all fancy big city beer. It's a beer of the people damnit.

2) I enjoy the subtle ode to Maine via way of the lobster buoy. I like Maine and I like buoys.

3) I like how the bottle caps are all different colors. I find it whimsical and adorable.

4) Geary's Summer Ale is the most delicious beer of all time and drinking it makes it truly summer. Like all precious gifts, it does not matter how it is wrapped.

I rest my case.

  1. I agree about the caps, but I still don't like the design. I'm still on a hunt for the 2005 label but came across some vintage ones here:

  2. I agree with Holly. It looks like it has juice in it not delicous summer beer.

  4. As Molly put it, "it kind of looks like they're advertising to children this year." But, I technically started drinking Geary's Summer Ale when I was still a child, so who am I to judge?

I found a place in Brooklyn that has Geary's Summer Ale on tap, only a few subway stops away. I feel like a champion.

  6. SUMMER ALE ON TAP??? Better even than Sparks on tap! I want that here in Chi so bad, but Geary's doesn't have an Illinois distributor.

  7. Nick Henny says that there is a place near Davis with GSA on draft.

    Fieldtrip anyone?
